Why You Should Create A Mastermind Group

If I wasn’t proactive about surrounding myself with like-minded people, I’d be much worse for wear. I often go through cycles of intense self-confidence followed by non-productive, intense self-critique. Fortunately, I’ve come to see my monthly sessions with my mastermind group typically spur my progression out of these negative phases of self-critique by helping me refocus.

Wikipedia describes a mastermind group as a peer to peer mentoring group used to help members solve problems with input and advice from other members.

“Every mind needs friendly contact with other minds for food of expansion and growth.”

So sayeth the man who coined this term, “Think and Grow Rich” author Napoleon Hill.

What I love about mastermind groups is their wide range of personal use. For example, the friend, Jason Lam, who started the mastermind group I belong to, was initially motivated to keeping his new year’s goals. He realized that the majority of people don’t keep their goals past January 3rd. For him, a mastermind group that holds each other accountable was the perfect way to remedy this.

As I’ve alluded to, the mastermind group has a multitude of applications. When I come into a meeting on a high, I love using it as an opportunity…
